Managing Jealousy
After guests leave, Anna walks rather than sits. All evening she has done her utmost to arouse in Levin a feeling of love, as she now does with young men. She knows she succeeded. She also knows how she feels on the brink of calamity, how afraid she is of herself. The flirtation is not desire for Levin. It is a test instrument pointed at Vronsky's world.
