Friedrich Nietzsche
1844–1900

Friedrich Nietzsche trained as a classical philologist before turning to philosophy, and wrote in short, aphoristic bursts rather than long formal arguments. He challenged readers to question inherited morality and build their own values on purpose — which is exactly why he is still argued over today.
