The classical figures in this book, Marcus Aurelius, Edmond Dantès, Lily Bart, Siddhartha, Frankl, the rest, are exactly who and what they were. Quotations are sourced and dated.

Where contemporary individuals appear in the text, a doctor, a friend, a former colleague, names and identifying details have been changed, and some figures are composites of more than one real person. The events are real. The lessons are real. Only the labels have been moved.
